Avast Antivirus Free 2014 released

Avast Free Antivirus 2014 has been released with a new user interface and some useful new features.

Hardened Mode: Avast 2014 features a new protection mode, called Hardened Mode which works similar to WOT, but for files. It relies on Avast's file reputation service (Community IQ), which crowd-sources information from the almost 200 million devices currently protected by Avast products.

DeepScreen: The old AutoSandbox component has turned into DeepScreen, a better variant for sandboxed analysis that, according to Avast, can see behind the obfuscating code and check the binary level commands. All findings are shared with the community.
Faster Scans: Raw in-memory scan times can be much faster, for some file types at least; EXE files are now checked around twice as quickly, text contents (web pages, scripts) are up to 10x faster. The bulk of the scan time is taken by loading this content in the first place, so the performance you see won’t change too much.
Rescue Disk: Rescue Disk is a new feature that extends the functionality of the security package by creating a bootable media that can be used for offline scanning and cleaning infected systems.
